Take Charge of My Heart Review Does the Story Live Up to Its Premise

Take Charge of My Heart Review: Does the Story Live Up to Its Premise?

I was over the moon when Take Charge of My Heart (나를 충전해줘) premiered on Netflix on October 9, 2026. I squealed like a little girl and did a mini happy dance right in my living room. Seriously, I was as happy as a pig in mud! If I'm not mistaken, it feels like so many of my favorite Korean actors have come together for this one amazing drama. We have the tall, handsome, and witty Kim Young-kwang (Baek Ho-rang), known for his dazzling smile and energetic screen presence, starring alongside Chae Soo-bin (Na Bo-bae), who brings her adorable expressions and effortless rom-com charm to the screen. The series is adapted from the web novel Charge Me Up (나를 충전해줘) by Hae Beon (해번) .
If you enjoyed My Bias, My Boss, you'll notice some funny similarities in Ji Eun-ho (Cha Woo-min), who once again brings the ambition and romantic rivalry that make things interesting. I had so much fun watching Choi Do-yoon (Jung Jae-gwang) add even more tension to this mix of love triangle and corporate drama.
And can we talk about how relatable Na Bo-bae is to K-drama fans like us? She instantly reminded me of Ko Eun-ha from My Sweet Mobster, and I’m such a sucker for characters like them! Both have that lovable charm that makes you want to root for them. If you're looking for a drama that will put a smile on your face and give you plenty of reasons to squeal, look no further!

Take Charge of My Heart Episodes 1-5: First Impressions

The drama has such a fun and unusual premise that it got me hooked from Episode 1! Na Bo-bae is a seemingly ordinary but passionate screenwriter with a very unusual secret. Her body generates static electricity whenever she experiences strong emotions. Get nervous around a guy she likes or try to hold his hand, and she might accidentally give him an electric shock! To avoid shocking people, she has to wear thick insulated gloves and be extra careful about physical contact in her everyday life in Seoul.
Then we meet Baek Ho-rang, the cold and ruthless executive director of the luxury resort company TS Resort. He's the typical handsome, cold-hearted corporate heir, but he's hiding a life-changing medical secret. He has an artificial heart with an internal battery that needs regular electrical recharging to keep him alive.
In Episode 2, circumstances bring them together in the most unexpected way. While trying to avoid a public embarrassment, Na Bo-bae accidentally touches Baek Ho-rang’s bare wrist with her own. Her powerful static charge passes through him and recharges his artificial heart’s battery. Neither of them expects that her unusual ability could have such an effect on him.
Episodes 3 and 4 take us straight into classic rom-com territory with a good old contract romance. Once Baek Ho-rang realizes that Na Bo-bae can act as his very own human power bank, he offers her a well-paid job as his secretary for three months so she can stay close enough to recharge his heart when needed.
And you can imagine what happens next from Episode 5 onward! Their job requires them to stay close, which leads to all kinds of awkward and unintentional skinship (physical contact). They try so hard to act professional, but their blushing faces and racing hearts make it pretty obvious that keeping things strictly business won't be easy!

Take Charge of My Heart: What Happens in the Final Episode?

Take Charge of My Heart Ending Explained

Episode 10 delivers the emotional, dramatic finale that fans like me have been waiting for! After a frightening medical emergency, Na Bo-bae uses a powerful static charge to revive an unconscious Baek Ho-rang. However, the doctors warn them that another powerful electrical discharge could put his life at risk.
Terrified that her condition might hurt the man she loves, Na Bo-bae packs her bags and returns to her family's peaceful seaside town. But Baek Ho-rang isn't ready to give up on their relationship! He follows her to the coast and makes his feelings clear, showing her that he wants to be with her despite the challenges they may face.
The finale also gives Na Bo-bae something wonderful to celebrate. Her long-held dream finally comes true when her original screenplay, The Bodyguard in My Heart, gets the green light for a television series. After everything she's been through, seeing her work get the chance to reach an audience feels like a well-deserved victory!
Meanwhile, Choi Do-yoon is exposed as the person working against Baek Ho-rang from within the company. His schemes come to light, leading to his downfall. Baek Ho-rang eventually rises to the top of TS Resort, bringing the corporate conflict to a satisfying close.
And the final moments? Absolutely heartwarming! Na Bo-bae and Baek Ho-rang share a quiet kiss under the night sky, but this time, her static electricity feels like a gentle warmth rather than a painful shock.
I love how this moment reflects the growth of their relationship. What once made physical contact frightening has become something tender and comforting. Their love has grown beyond the unusual circumstances that brought them together, and they can finally look forward to a future together. It's the kind of sweet, satisfying ending that leaves you smiling even after the credits roll!

Take Charge of My Heart: Would I Recommend It?

One of the best things about Take Charge of My Heart is the off-the-charts chemistry between our leads. The storytelling is playful, and the romantic moments are so much fun to watch. Kim Young-kwang is adorably charming as the usually stoic corporate heir, with a much softer side hiding beneath that strict suit. Every time he gets close to Na Bo-bae, his artificial heart starts beeping rapidly. Watching him try to hide his reactions and keep anyone from noticing is honestly hilarious!
Chae Soo-bin brings a natural sense of humor and so much heart to her character. She's looking for passionate love, but her unusual condition makes dating a real challenge. The idea of wanting to get close to someone while worrying that you might accidentally shock them is such a funny take on the fears of modern dating. I love how the drama turns something as simple as holding hands into a whole romantic adventure!
The supporting characters make the story even more interesting. Choi Do-yoon is an ambitious vice director who keeps plotting against Baek Ho-rang to take control of TS Resort. His schemes add tension to the corporate rivalry, while Ji Eun-ho brings a sweet touch as Na Bo-bae's loyal childhood friend. When her contract with Baek Ho-rang becomes too much to handle, he's someone she can trust and turn to for advice.
So, would I recommend it? Yes! Take Charge of My Heart is a sweet romantic fantasy with heart-wrenching moments (in the cutest way possible). Kim Young-kwang and Chae Soo-bin's adorable chemistry, cute skinship, and funny contract-romance tropes make up for the occasional lull in the corporate storyline. If you love lighthearted romances and comfort dramas, this one is worth adding to your watchlist!
