My calendar was marked for July 16, 2026, the day Studio Wabi Sabi premiered its competitive gaming rom-com, Be My Player Two(ซอโซ่ล่ามธีร์), on WeTV.
The moment the first teaser dropped last year, I was already hooked. Seeing Maxky Ratchata and Bas Hatsanat return as the lead pair was everything I had hoped for. Thi and Zo felt like the perfect match for a project like this, and once I learned what the story was about, I knew it had all the ingredients of a drama I'd love.
Online, Thi is a loud, arrogant, and outrageously funny superstar streamer. But during one of his live broadcasts, he's unexpectedly crushed by an unknown gamer named Zo, who plays under the username DERYA MK12, in front of thousands of viewers.
Needless to say, Thi doesn't take the loss well. His pride takes a serious hit, and he becomes determined to track down the mysterious gamer who embarrassed him. The twist? When his esports team suddenly needs an emergency player for an important tournament, the perfect replacement turns out to be the very person he's been searching for.
If you enjoyed the cozy workplace chemistry and playful banter of A Boss and a Babe, you'll probably feel right at home here. Be My Player Two is pure comfort viewing, blending hilarious rivalry, lovable characters, and fun team dynamics into an easy, feel-good watch.
Be My Player Two Premiere Review (Episodes 1-2)
Episode 1 won me over right away with its humor and energetic opening. Thi is wonderfully dramatic in almost every scene, and Maxky fully commits to every over-the-top reaction. His exaggerated facial expressions had me laughing out loud more than once.
What I loved most was the contrast between Thi's loud, confident online persona and the determination he shows when trying to track down Zo in real life. That difference makes his character even more entertaining. Bas plays Zo with so much natural charm. He's quiet, soft-spoken, and incredibly adorable, with those big, innocent eyes that make it seem like he's completely unaware of the chaos surrounding him. Their first meeting at the gaming shop gave me butterflies, and I couldn't stop smiling.
Episode 2 raises the stakes as Thi becomes even more determined to recruit Zo to join the Whim Squeak Brothers. The dialogue is filled with clever comebacks and playful banter that kept me smiling throughout the episode. I especially loved watching Thi switch from being bossy and competitive to unexpectedly protective. That balance makes his character so much fun to watch.
The team's chemistry is another highlight. Jack (Gunner Natsakan) and Cher (Jeng Chotipat) bring plenty of laughs as they constantly tease Thi and Zo about their obvious chemistry from the very beginning. Their interactions make the entire group feel warm, lively, and genuinely fun to spend time with.
The gaming scenes are colorful, exciting, and packed with energy. Director New Siwaj Sawatmaneekul does a great job balancing the excitement of esports with the show's romantic comedy elements. The physical comedy also lands really well. One of my favorite moments has to be Thi dramatically showing up outside Zo's workplace with a stack of energy drinks while delivering an over-the-top speech. That scene instantly became a core memory for me. The cast's chemistry and the electric energy throughout the premiere made the first two episodes an absolute joy to watch.
Be My Player Two Episodes 1-2 Verdict
The lead pairing is fantastic, but there are still a few areas that could use some fine-tuning. The CGI used during the tournament scenes feels a little dated, with the in-game character models looking more like early 2010s video games than modern esports titles. It isn't distracting enough to ruin the experience, but it's one area where the production could be stronger.
The rivalry between the competing streamer teams also feels a bit underdeveloped at this point. Most of the opposing guild members haven't made much of an impression yet, serving mainly as obstacles rather than fully developed characters. I'm hoping future episodes will give them more depth and personality.
Episode 2 ends on a fantastic cliffhanger as Zo finally agrees to join the team, but only on one condition. We also learn why he's been hesitant to pursue professional esports, as his decision is tied to personal family concerns. Thi promises to keep Zo's identity a secret, and the two officially become teammates and allies.
After watching the first two episodes, I can confidently say I'm really enjoying this series. It plays to the strengths of the romantic comedy genre while adding a fun esports backdrop. Maxky and Bas have wonderful chemistry, and every scene they share feels effortless, entertaining, and full of charm. If the rest of the season keeps up this momentum, I'll happily be tuning in every week.
