The Prosecutor's Proposal Episodes 1 & 2 Review (Korean BL)

Maybe I should scream into my pillow right now, but I'm officially a fan of The Prosecutor's Proposal (검사실의 제안), which premiered on June 25, 2026 at Studio Oak. This Korean BL dishes up a lot of dark thriller suspense and oh-so-charged trauma bonding. The BL is entirely focused on the case of a great casino magnate's killing fifteen years ago that rocked the lives of two young boys.

One was the heartbroken son of the victim. The other was the son of the murderer, forced to carry the cruel burden of his father's crime. Now, fifteen years later, fate brings them together at the Danhyeon Branch Office.

If you're a fan of the psychological warfare in The Devil Judge or the raw emotional intensity of The The Time of Fever, but want those same elements set against a gripping crime investigation, I highly recommend this series.

What I Absolutely Loved So Far

What I expected to be a typical police procedural in Episode 1 quickly pulls me into the heavy, unresolved history between the characters. Within just a few minutes, my heart broke for Lee Chae-ha (Park Si-woo). Unable to become a police officer, he instead begins working as a Grade 8 investigator. His entire life has been overshadowed by being known as the "son of a murderer." He was bullied by his classmates, and even his uncle hates him, going as far as violently abusing him. Yet despite everything, he goes to work every day with quiet strength and dignity.

Then the universe decided to test my sanity all over again when Chae-ha reunited with Joo Tae-sun (Yoon Do-gun). Tae-sun is the intense prosecutor Chae-ha deeply admires, and the very person who helped clear his name after he was falsely accused while serving on the police force.

I absolutely loved their dynamic from the very beginning. What Chae-ha doesn't know is that Tae-sun is actually the secret heir to the murdered casino magnate. He's carrying years of bottled-up anger and an overwhelming desire for revenge. Every word he throws at Chae-ha feels like a poisoned arrow, leaving Chae-ha standing there confused, trying to stay strong while clearly not understanding Tae-sun's hostility.

Now onto Episode 2. These two completely blew me away with their electric chemistry during their first late-night shift together. When Tae-sun gets caught up in a dangerous incident while on duty, his fixation on Chae-ha instantly goes into overdrive. I really enjoyed watching Tae-sun test Chae-ha to see how far he could push him before Chae-ha walked away, but Chae-ha isn't going anywhere.

I got real goosebumps when Tae-sun announced that he was taking over the fifteen-year-old murder case and wanted Chae-ha to work exclusively under him, meaning he wanted Chae-ha assigned to his office full-time. That scene was so intense that I was practically holding my breath. I couldn't stop smirking at my screen because Tae-sun is already subtly protecting Chae-ha from all the judgment and criticism coming from the rest of the department.

My Verdict After Two Episodes

I have almost nothing to criticize here, but I felt the editing during the opening flashback scenes of Episode 1 was a little heavy-handed because of how chaotic it was. It took me a moment to get my bearings as the story jumped between the young boys' traumatic experience at the casino and the present-day investigation. I felt a little dizzy trying to piece together the timeline before the story settled into its natural flow.

I also had a moment of rage watching Chae-ha feel so left out at work, burdened by office politics and the weight of everyone's prejudice against him. There were moments when I wanted to punch some sense into him for sitting there and silently suffering while his uncle continued to look down on and abuse him. But it also made Tae-sun's growing interest in him feel ten times more rewarding.

Overall, I came away from these first two episodes with a solid 8.9/10. The production quality feels incredibly cinematic, the emotional tension is palpable, and the acting is wonderfully grounded for a short thriller. I'm completely hooked on this gorgeous wreck.

Highly recommended for BL fans who crave angst, heavy emotional baggage, and an intense enemies-to-lovers dynamic wrapped inside a dark criminal conspiracy.
