So Ji Sub returned to our screens on June 26, 2026, and wow, he absolutely delivered. Blending a heartwarming father-daughter story with thrilling action, hilarious comedy, and the unexpected charm of middle-aged dads, Agent Kim Reactivated (김부장 ) is an absolute blast to watch. I was hooked from the very first minute as So Ji Sub effortlessly took down bad guys with incredible speed, skill, and style.
The series follows Manager Kim, also known as Agent 66 (So Ji Sub), a quiet savings bank manager and devoted single father. To everyone around him, he looks like an ordinary office worker living a simple life. But no one knows that he has a deadly past. He is a former black-ops operative who gave up his dangerous life to raise his young daughter, Kim Min Ji (Seo Su Min), in peace. Everything changes when Min Ji becomes the target of a powerful crime syndicate led by the corrupt Ju Gang Chan (Joo Sang Wook). Forced out of retirement, Manager Kim unleashes the skills he tried so hard to leave behind. I was so excited to see So Ji Sub back doing what he does best.
I was hooked right from the start by the premise. I loved the contrast between a deadly black-ops agent capable of incredible violence and an ordinary father just trying to pay the bills and give his daughter a normal life. That balance makes the story so entertaining. One moment Manager Kim is dealing with everyday parenting problems, and the next he's taking down enemies without breaking a sweat. Every scene with him is both exciting and surprisingly heartwarming.
If you loved the protective dad energy in My Secret Terrius or the intense action and conspiracy elements of Vagabond, this series definitely deserves a spot on your watchlist.
Agent Kim Reactivated Review: The Legendary Dad Squad
Episodes 1 and 2 waste no time setting up the story, showing the contrast between Manager Kim's peaceful everyday life and his dangerous past. He looks like nothing more than a tired single dad trying to handle school problems and keep his daughter happy. But the moment Min Ji disappears in Episode 3, he flips the switch with terrifying speed and becomes the ruthless Agent 66 once again.
We meet his legendary team of veteran dads in Episode 4. Seong Han Su (Choi Dae Hoon) and Park Jin Cheol (Yoon Kyung Ho) join the fight, and despite spending most of their time worrying about school zones, utility bills, and grocery prices, they turn into deadly fighters who wipe out entire squads of mercenaries without hesitation. I couldn't stop laughing at their chemistry. They bring so much humor and personality to the series, adding a fun twist to what could have been a typical revenge drama.
Episodes 5 through 8 feature some of the best hallway fights and tactical gunfights I've seen this year. Manager Kim tears through the crime syndicate as he searches for his daughter. Meanwhile, undercover agent Jung Sang A (Son Na Eun) adds another entertaining layer to the story as she secretly investigates Manager Kim and tries to uncover where he has gone. By Episodes 9 and 10, the stakes are higher than ever as Ju Gang Chan corners the entire team for one final showdown.
The action is consistently entertaining, but I have to admit the writing falls into familiar territory at times. The intelligence agency often seems surprisingly incompetent, making one poor decision after another so Agent 66 can step in and save the day almost single-handedly. The series also leans on a few classic K-drama clichés, with villains making slow or questionable decisions just when the heroes need a chance to escape. Some of the secondary villains also feel a little one-dimensional and almost cartoonishly evil. Even so, So Ji Sub's commanding performance holds everything together. His intense screen presence and quiet charisma keep every action scene engaging and make it hard to look away.
Agent Kim Reactivated Ending Explained
I was clutching my pillow throughout Episode 10 because the finale was absolutely intense. Han Su and Jin Cheol are forced to make an impossible choice when Ju Gang Chan orders them to kill Do Hyeon to save their own children. When the two fathers appear to beat Do Hyeon mercilessly inside a prison cell, I genuinely thought they had turned against him. My heart was racing.
Thankfully, everything turns out to be part of a brilliantly executed plan. The prison fight is nothing more than a carefully staged deception. They destroy the prison cell, capture Gang Chan during the chaos, and finally bring down his criminal empire for good. To protect Do Hyeon from future revenge by the remaining syndicate members and other dangerous enemies, the government officially stages his death. Watching Min Ji cry at her father's memorial was heartbreaking, especially knowing the truth behind his sacrifice.
Under a new identity, Do Hyeon begins a peaceful new life with Min Ji, who is now living as Ji Min, in a quiet town. I thought the series wrapped up the main story beautifully while still leaving plenty to look forward to. The final scene, where Do Hyeon meets Lee Do Gyu from the White Tiger Agency, is an exciting tease for Season 2, and it immediately made me want more.
Will There Be an Agent Kim Reactivated Season 2?
I'm practically begging for another season!
The production team has confirmed that Season 2 is actively under discussion following that incredible finale, and honestly, I hope it gets the green light as soon as possible. Episode 10 ends with Do Hyeon stepping into the Baekho (White Tiger) Agency and meeting Lee Do Gyu, opening the door to a much bigger world inspired by the original webtoon. With his new identity, a fresh start alongside Ji Min, and an entirely new underground network waiting for him, the story feels like it's only just beginning.
Most of all, I want to see the dad trio back together kicking butt again. Their chemistry became one of the best parts of the series, and the finale sets up the perfect opportunity for them to reunite. Everything is in place for an exciting second season, so now all we can do is keep our fingers crossed.
