Mr. Fanboy Episodes 1-2 Review: Why You Need to Watch This Thai BL

The official release date for Mr. Fanboy (รักสุดใจนายแฟนบอย) is August 29, 2026, and I am already completely hooked on this brand-new Domundi project. The series is adapted from the novel Mr. Fanboy by littlebbear96. Thai BLs can sometimes lean heavily into fluff, but this premiere feels like such a fun mix of entertainment-industry satire, fan humor, and enemies-to-lovers tension.
If you love crazy chemistry and the classic enemies-to-lovers trope where two people can’t stand each other at first, like in Double Helix (Chinese BL), or you enjoy the behind-the-scenes entertainment industry story and romance in Lovely Writer on WeTV, you will definitely want to keep Mr. Fanboy on your radar. The series brings both of these elements together in its own fun way.
Wan (Save Worapong Walor) is a super-dedicated fanboy and photographer who gets the ultimate fan moment when he accidentally runs into his idol, Nine (James Supamongkon Wongwisut), inside his dressing room backstage. But his dream moment quickly turns into a nightmare when Third (Auau Thanaphum Sestasittikul), Nine's brooding on-screen partner, catches him there and assumes he is a sasaeng (a fan who crosses personal boundaries and takes their obsession too far).
Things get even more complicated when Wan desperately needs money to help pay off his family's debts. He takes a job photographing auditions for Nine's upcoming series, only to end up auditioning for the show himself. And just like that, this starry-eyed fan finds himself working alongside the idol he adores and the grouchy co-star who absolutely cannot stand him.
Mr. Fanboy Episodes 1-2 Review: Everything I Loved So Far
The opening episode was so hilariously star-struck, with genuine Domundi appearances from Zee, NuNew, Thomas, and Kong, that I was hooked from the very beginning. I honestly couldn't stop laughing, and the episode immediately pulled me into all the mess. Watching Wan blindly wander backstage was gold, but things really took off when Third cornered him. With his relatable, starstruck fan energy, Save Worapong Walor is so adorable that his character Wan never feels annoying.
The audition scene came next, and I genuinely forgot to breathe for a moment! Third goes from an arrogant jerk to someone surprisingly calm and protective in an instant when Wan begins having a panic attack under the studio lights. The intensity between them in that moment was everything, and my heart was literally flipping while I was sitting on my couch.
In Episode 2, things get even messier as Wan heads onto the set for his first day at Our House. He shows up late, gets on Third's nerves once again, and the two immediately fall into another argument that feels more like a domestic squabble than a real fight. I like that whenever Wan becomes overwhelmed or anxious, Third protects him without a moment's hesitation. At the same time, Third clearly still doesn't like having Wan around and gets irritated by his presence, which makes their dynamic even more entertaining to watch.
Meanwhile, Nine continues to play the idealized, dreamy hero on screen, but his friendly smile starts to reveal a bit of a snake-like charm. The energy stays light and fun, thanks to the lovable agency juniors, Renji (Ryujin Tinnapat Tusnytraitep) and Time (Patji Jirachart Buspavanich), who are constantly teasing Wan.
Mr. Fanboy Review: My Verdict After Episode 2
I am already sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for Episode 3. This BL has a surprisingly emotional side to it, especially as Third and Wan start dealing with the harder realities of the entertainment industry while also looking out for each other. The acting feels really believable, the showbiz details feel convincing, and the mystery surrounding what Nine is really like behind the scenes keeps things interesting. If the production team keeps the louder jokes and goofy sound effects a little more under control, this could easily become one of the best Thai BL releases of the year.
If you want a show that makes you want to pinch your cheeks, gives you butterflies, and still knows how to poke fun at modern fan culture, Mr. Fanboy is the BL for you. I am more than ready for the rest of the season. See me seated!
