Back to another review! This time, my absolute favorite rich kid with a shiny badge is back on my screen. The hit action-comedy drama Flex X Cop Season 2 (재벌X형사 시즌2) returned on August 7, 2026, and I canceled all my Friday night plans just so I could watch it. My expectations were in the stratosphere after that killer conclusion to Season 1. But say what you will, the premiere picked up exactly where my heart left off, and I’m thrilled to say the action is already beyond belief.
Flex X Cop Season 2: Quick Season 1 Recap
Before I get into my thoughts on the new episodes, here’s a quick recap of Season 1, just for a little refresher.
Jin I-soo (Ahn Bo-hyun), a third-generation chaebol heir, became involved in a real police investigation and accidentally joined Gangha Police Station’s Violent Crimes Unit 1 to help clean up a major public relations crisis. Under the leadership of the strong and righteous Lee Kang-hyun (Park Ji-hyun), Jin I-soo used his insane family fortune, personal connections, and unusual hobbies to track down and catch high-profile criminals who thought they were too powerful to be caught by the law.
Along the way, I got to watch the team solve some seriously bizarre cases involving the richest people in society while also uncovering heartbreaking truths about Jin I-soo’s family history and the shocking reality surrounding his mother’s death.
If you want something with a similar energy, I feel like Taxi Driver and The Fiery Priest have a spiritual connection with this drama. You’ll get that same satisfying feeling I had watching unconventional heroes take on powerful, wealthy villains and bring them to justice.
Flex X Cop Season 2 Plot and Episode 1-2 Overview
Season 2 begins with Jin I-soo officially returning to Violent Crimes Unit 1 after completing his required police training at the academy. And honestly, I’m very excited to see him finally play dress-up with an actual badge and certificate. He’s no longer just pretending to be a cop. He has the official training and certification to back up all that flexing!
But I noticed right away that some major changes were coming to the unit. Lee Kang-hyun is no longer part of the department, and a new leader is introduced, Joo Hye-ra (Jung Eun-chae). She just happens to be Jin I-soo’s former police academy instructor, feared by everyone as the infamous “Devil Instructor.”

The story really starts to ramp up when a series of coordinated, small-scale explosions rocks the city. Jin I-soo has to deal with this new and dangerous criminal threat alongside his old friends Park Jun-young (Kang Sang-jun) and Choi Kyung-jin (Kim Shin-bi) while also getting used to Joo Hye-ra’s strict, no-nonsense approach to work.
On top of all that, a documentary film crew is hired to follow Jin I-soo and chronicle his life as a rich cop. Naturally, this leads to hilarious chaos and awkward situations at almost every crime scene he visits. And honestly, I’m already loving the ridiculousness of it all.
Highlights From Flex X Cop Season 2: Episodes 1 & 2
There is no way Jin I-soo has lost even a single ounce of his signature charm. I was completely susceptible to him all over again, and yes, I was swooning the whole way through. Episode 1 immediately brought back all the fun I loved about the first season, especially when he walked onto a crime scene with an entire filming crew following him.
I just can’t not like him. He is still as magnetic as ever, and the jokes feel so natural to me, especially when he pulls off some ridiculous “big flex” only to have it called out by the actual hard work of the cops around him.
I was also surprised to find that the change in the female lead wasn’t as difficult for me to adjust to as I expected. I was really worried about Lee Kang-hyun being gone, but Joo Hye-ra brings a completely different and edgy energy, and I loved it!
She’s sensible, mature, and doesn’t let Jin I-soo get away with his ridiculous theatrics. At the same time, she doesn’t have to be rude to shut him down, which makes their interactions even funnier. I think their dynamic makes for a great comedic contrast because being around Jin I-soo feels like Joo Hye-ra is a cold, unbothered rock constantly dealing with a very enthusiastic golden retriever.
Episode 2 was a FANTASTIC resolution to the serial bombing arc! The terrorist sends Jin I-soo a cryptic “FINAL ROUND” message along with a deepfake image of Chairman Choi rigged with explosives, which leads him straight to his late father’s old house.
Things get even more dangerous when Jin I-soo enters his father’s secret shelter to escape what he believes is a fake bomb above ground, only to discover that a real bomb has been planted underneath the shelter. The whole sequence had me completely glued to the screen.
Flex X Cop Season 2: A Few Minor Missteps
The K-drama has been very entertaining for me, but there have been a few little misfires. The documentary crew storyline that was introduced in Episode 1 became repetitive for me pretty quickly. I can’t help but feel like it stretches my suspension of disbelief a little when camera operators are constantly hovering around active crime scenes, even for a show that already has such an exaggerated premise.

I also felt that the change in dynamics among the core team members was somewhat abrupt. Ahn Bo-hyun’s performance as Jin I-soo had me completely captivated from the very first scene of Episode 1, especially when he seemingly manages to soften Park Jun-young’s attitude toward him.
I think the banter between them in Season 1 was one of the things that made their relationship so much fun to watch. In reality, they weren’t exactly the best of friends at first. Their relationship was full of sarcasm, little arguments, and sharp exchanges, and that made their friendship feel earned.
I miss those funny little quarrels. This time, it feels like we’ve gone straight from all that bickering to total harmony. And honestly, I wish we had gotten a little more of their old dynamic.
Regardless, I have to give the show some grace because the season has only just premiered, and we’ve seen just two episodes so far.
I have a few little things to gripe about, but overall, these first two episodes showed me that the show can still deliver the good old-fashioned fun that made me fall in love with it in the first place. I’m still curious about the cases, and the lead characters, especially Jin I-soo, remain some of my absolute favorites to watch.
Flex X Cop Season 2 Episode 2 Ending Review
Episode 2 had a really, really suspenseful cliffhanger, and I swear I gasped when I reached the end. Jin I-soo and Joo Hye-ra follow a suspicious signal connected to the recent bomb scares and eventually corner a suspect in an abandoned warehouse.
As I-soo tries to use one of Hye-ra’s high-tech gadgets, the suspect activates a manual timer. Just as the main bomb is about to go off, my screen goes black as Joo Hye-ra pushes Jin I-soo out of the blast zone.
The investigation eventually wraps up with an oddly hilarious and totally karmic twist that exposes the culprits on live television. It has that perfect poetic-justice feeling that is so Flex X Cop. Yes, the case gets solved, but the ending also sets up a fun, long-term workplace dynamic for Violent Crimes Unit 1. I was basically grinning from ear to ear.
And to top it all off, the post-credits scene drops a surprise celebrity cameo in a mysterious location that instantly sets up what looks like a much bigger storyline for Episode 3 and beyond.
Now I’m officially curious about what comes next!
Flex X Cop Season 2 Review: Is It Worth Watching?
Season 2 of Flex X Cop got off to a flying start for me, with explosive cases, seriously fashionable police looks, and a terrific new team dynamic. It carries on all the fun and action that got me hooked on the original while giving my favorite detective even more room to grow.
This is definitely a must-watch if you enjoyed the first season as much as I did, or if you’re looking for a crime comedy with a ridiculously rich protagonist who brings his own unique style to solving cases.
✦ Watch This If You Loved
I highly recommend it for those who love action comedies, righteous anti-hero dynamics, and flashy, rich-guy justice. It is especially perfect for fans who want a lighthearted, stress-relieving watch after a long week. It’s a true “brain-rot” show in the best way possible, serving up high-fashion looks, workplace bickering, and blockbuster-level action without taking itself too seriously.
